Purpose:
Thank you for taking this brief survey on the motivations, incentives, and barriers associated with Voluntary Environmental Program (VEP) participation in golf.  VEPs, such as The Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program, GEO's OnCourse program, e-par's EMS for Golf, and others are most-often centered on helping golf course professionals find the best ways to operate more sustainably, supporting credible ways to monitor and measure results, and helping to tell golf's positive story.  The purpose of this survey is to find out why or why not Golf Course Superintendents in the United States chose to participate in VEPs, and for those who do, what types of benefits are being realized.  Answering these questions will help all VEP developers/managers better serve the golf industry while also continuing to drive overall improvement.  Survey results will be shared with survey participants (upon request), VEP program staff, and golf associations/leaders.

This survey is coming to you from Audubon International, based in Troy, NY.  Audubon International (AI) is a pioneer in the development of VEPs, working with golf courses to improve environmental management for over 25 years.  AI is working with Dr. Kevin A. Fletcher (Greener Futures Consulting LLC and The Sage Colleges, Albany NY) to develop, distribute, and analyze the data, and share results broadly.  Dr. Fletcher pioneered research around this issue in the 1990’s by analyzing economic and environmental trends in the golf industry.

Please direct your questions to Doug Bechtel, AI Executive Director (doug@auduboninternational.org) or Kevin A. Fletcher (kevin@greener-futures.com).
