Help create a gender-inclusive UUCP community

An invitation to all UUCP members and friends:
Please accept our invitation to tell your story.

By answering a few open-ended questions you will join a vital and ongoing conversation about how members of our community have felt excluded and/or included due to their gender, including those of us who identify as trans, nonbinary, gender nonconforming, or gender conforming.

As the father of a transgender man, I joined the newly-forming inclusion team because I know -- in a very personal way -- that the support of a faith community can make a great difference, sometimes a life or death difference, in the lives of persons who are trans, non-binary, and/or gender nonconforming.  On behalf of our team, I invite you to share anonymously (or not) your experiences of inclusion and exclusion at UUCP.

You can write as much (or as little) as you want. If you prefer, your answers will remain anonymous.  The important thing is to make your voice heard.  If you prefer to convey your thoughts in person or in another medium, just let us know what works best for you.

We recognize that it might not be possible to separate out your experience of gender from other aspects of who you are, such as your sexuality, race, class, ability, or age. So please share all relevant aspects of your experience.

How will these stories be used?
First, your experiences will help us educate ourselves and other members. Your responses will be discussed by the team as we assess UUCP’s status as a welcoming congregation.  Second, your stories will inform the design of welcoming spaces, services, rituals, and social activities.  Third, with your permission, and only with your permission, we will work with you to share some of these stories in written or multi-media messages designed to foster understanding and gender inclusion at UUCP.

Thank you,
