About the Awards

Kilkenny Carlow Garda Division in association with Netwatch present the Garda Youth Awards 2021, celebrating outstanding young individuals between the ages of 13 and 21 years. These awards are to recognise and celebrate the great work being carried out by young people throughout their communities. Awards will be considered for nominated young people who by their presence make their communities a better place to live or have shown great determination in their own lives. Groups of two or more young people whose combined efforts have contributed positively to their communities will also be considered.

RULES OF THE COMPETITION

1. Awards are confined to those young people who are aged between 13 and 21 years on 31st December 2020

2. Permanent residence of the young person must be in the Garda Division in which they are nominated.

3. Awards are confined to individuals and groups of two or more people.

4. Any member of the public may nominate anyone whom they feel deserves an award.

5. Nominations may be submitted by family members or relatives.

6. Previous award winners are not eligible.

7. Attendees at the awards ceremony agree for their image to be used for PR, social media and other promotional purposes associated with the awards.

8. The Judging Panel will decide upon one nominee in each category to go forward to represent the Division at the National Garda Youth Awards.

9. Judges decision is final.

10. Awards are open until the 16th April 2021

Individual Awards An individual who is making a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live, nominees from each Garda district of Carlow, Kilkenny and Thomastown will be selected.

Group Achievement Award Groups of 2 or more, making a positive contribution to their community, making it a better place to live.

Special Achievement Award An individual or group that has overcome difficult circumstances, defied all the odds and whose commitment deserves recognition.

Community Safety Award An individual or group that through a crime prevention or safety initiative/innovation, have made their community a safer place to live.
