Learning Objectives:

Talk 1:
  1. Be familiar with the leading causes of medical evacuation from theaters of operation, and the effect treatment location has on disposition.
  2. Provide basic understanding on the peripheral, spinal and central mechanisms of phantom limb pain and implications for treatment.
  3. Compare the impact military necessity has on research, which may affect DoD funding decisions.
Talk 2:
  1. Describe the historical contributions of women in anesthesiology and understand how their legacy informs current practices and values within the specialty.
  2. Analyze systemic and institutional factors that influence gender equity in anesthesiology, including organizational structures, leadership pathways.
  3. Identify strategies to support gender equity across career stages, with a focus on mentorship, representation, and inclusive training environments for current and future anesthesiologists.
