Monroe Avenue Concept Plan - Stakeholder Survey

A preferred concept has been selected for the Monroe Avenue Concept Plan! Features of the concept include:
  • A two-way protected cycle track on the south side of the street
  • Wide sidewalks on both sides of the street
  • Enhanced pedestrian and bike crossings
  • Bus stop enhancements
  • Opportunities for more street trees and other landscaping
  • Opportunities for more outdoor seating (café zones)
  • Streetscape elements (pedestrian lighting, trash bins, benches, bike parking)
  • Speed management treatments, including raised crossings and intersections
  • Delivery truck loading zones
  • Reduction of parking on Monroe in support of wider sidewalks and café zones

The team is working to refine elements of the concept, particularly on the north side of the street. As a corridor property owner, business owner, or nearby resident, we want to hear from you about priorities/challenges/concerns.

1.Are there sufficient loading zones for delivery vehicles to serve businesses in the area? If not, please identify the location of concern.
2.The concept includes potential improvements to landscaping and the provision of benches, seating areas, café zones, and other amenities. Will these types of improvements accentuate the uniqueness and appeal of Monroe Avenue, as a place to visit, shop, eat, and socialize? If not, what concern do you have.
3.The concept demonstrates the flexibility to convert on-street parking to achieve other community benefits. Are you supportive of this flexibility? If not, what concern do you have.
4.The concept includes potential improvements to increase the visibility of pedestrians and bicyclists and better separate them from motor vehicles. Will these types of improvements make the area more comfortable and inviting for all travelers? If not, what concern do you have.
5.Would you support proposing this concept to the City Council for their endorsement?
