Hello!

Hanover County Department of Community Resources is seeking to mobilize thousands of youth to shower our community with volunteer activities on Global Youth Service Day (GYSD).

The goal of GYSD is to engage youth, ages 5-25, in helping non-profits and community groups to forward their missions and make Hanover an even better place to live.

We would like you to participate in these days of service by registering a service project that can provide youth with an opportunity to make a difference in their community. After your project is reviewed, approved, and processed, we will help you recruit volunteers for your project.

Or, if you are a service group (like a college fraternity or a Girl Scout troop) and have already developed a service project, you can complete this form to ensure your efforts are counted on the local, national, and international level.

We welcome projects that occur during GYSD weekend (April 20-22, 2018) and the days prior/following.

We will also be holding a service fair on March 17, 2018 from 12:30pm-2:30pm at the Patrick Henry YMCA. This is a great opportunity for project hosts (that's you!) to set up information about your project, meet prospective volunteers, and educate the community about the great work you do every day. A table and two chairs will be provided to each organization, group or individual that registers a project. This is also a great opportunity for youth to come out and meet other youth who are making a difference in their community!

Some additional things to know:

While we will make every effort to recruit volunteers for your project, we can not guarantee that all of your volunteer slots will be filled.

We also do not provide transportation to volunteers.

Applications are due by Friday, March 5th, 2018.

If you have any questions please contact Danielle sarbo, Youth Services Specialist, Hanover County Department of Community Resources at Dmsarbo@hanovercounty.gov or 804-365-4180.
