Church of the Holy Comforter
Return to In-Person Worship Service Survey
To the Community of the Beloved,
We are working on the safest possible re-opening of the church for in-person worship service beginning on Sunday, August 2. This is being done in concert with the other Episcopal churches of the Augusta Convocation. There is always a possibility that this date may change depending on the number of new cases of COVID-19.
It will not be a return to normal; that can’t happen until there is a vaccine.
The Diocese of Georgia has established certain requirements for conducting in-person worship services during the COVID-19 crisis. These include:
Wearing a mask during the service. This includes children over the age of two.
A more streamlined service.
Holy Eucharist would include only the distribution of communion bread.
Physical distancing during the service to include assigned seating.
Policies to minimize the spread of the virus to include:
o Temperature checks upon arrival
o No choir or singing during the service, with the exception of a soloist or duet. The reason for this is that air droplets spread further when singing.
o No physical contact during the sign of peace
o Fellowship following the service will not include any food or beverages
