1.Mechanical Purity in Cereal Seed Crops

Introduction

The Canadian Seed Growers’ Association (CSGA) regularly reviews its certification requirements, standards and procedures to ensure they reflect current scientific knowledge, technological developments, stakeholder needs, market conditions and production realities.

The Canadian Regulations and Procedures for Pedigreed Seed Crop Production (Circular 6) sets out the requirements that seed growers and seed crops must meet for seed crop certification. The crop-specific standards for cereal seed crops currently include maximum impurity standards for the presence of plants of other cereals within an inspected seed crop (mechanical/species purity).

The purpose of this survey is to gather stakeholder feedback on proposed revisions to the maximum impurity standards for Foundation, Registered and Certified status cereal seed crop production. No changes to the standards for Select status seed crops are proposed at this time.

Additional background information and context are available in the accompanying consultation document.

This survey should take approximately 5-10 minutes to complete and will remain open until 5 p.m. ET on November 3, 2026.

CSGA greatly appreciates your feedback. All responses will remain confidential in accordance with CSGA’s Privacy Policy.
