Traveller Movement Research on Shame and Reputation Damage (Communities Survey)

Thank you for considering taking part in this survey!

With this survey we want to:

-     Explore the role of men and women within Romani (Gypsy), Roma and Irish Traveller communities and whether reputation is considered important (a) at an individual level (b) at the community level.

-     Investigate the impact and consequences of reputation damage on Romani (Gypsies), Roma and Irish Travellers.

-     Find out whether Romani (Gypsies), Roma and Irish Travellers experience harmful practices within their communities and, if they do, what forms of harmful practices take place.

-     Highlight gaps in sector knowledge and explore how more focused, culturally informed support can be delivered effectively to Romani (Gypsies), Roma and Irish Travellers experiencing abuse.

The results from this survey and interviews will be written into a scoping paper which we plan to publish later in 2025. This paper will serve as a valuable resource for sector colleagues, helping to enhance understanding and improve the support available to individuals from these communities who may require assistance.
