Online Anonymous Survey/Questionnaire Consent

Hello,

My name is Diana McGinnis, and I am a doctoral student at National University (formerly Northcentral University). I am conducting an online survey to explore how employment status and psychological traits influence cybersecurity behaviors while addressing the strength in the relationship between employment status and the skills gap.

You may participate in this research if you meet all of the following criteria:

1. You are 18 years of age or older.

2. You are a legal resident of the state of Oklahoma.

3. You are employed (either part-time or full-time) as a legal professional OR you own a business in the legal field that is registered in the state of Oklahoma.

4. You are a user of technology (i.e., computers or handheld devices).

I hope to include 184 people in this research.

What you will be asked to do: If you agree to be in this study, you will be asked to do the following activities:

- Complete an online survey for 12 minutes.

During these activities, you will be asked questions about:

• The following survey includes questions about the Protective Motivation Theory two components, threat appraisal and coping appraisal, and the Cybersecurity Behavioral Model integrating three factors of Computing Skills (CS), Information-seeking Skills (I-S), and Prior Experience with Computer Security Practice (PE), and eight psychological traits of Perceived Vulnerability (PV), Perceived Severity (PS), Security Self-Efficacy (SS-E), Perceived Barricades (PBR), Perceived Benefits (PB), Response Efficacy (RE), Cues to Action (CTA), Peer Behavior (PBEH) and Self-Reported Cybersecurity Behavior (S-RCYBEH).

• Your title position, gender, age, and legal resident. It will take about 12 minutes of your time to complete the survey.

Risks: There are minimal foreseeable risks or discomforts associated with this research. You can still skip any question you do not wish to answer, skip any activity, or stop participation at any time.

Benefits: If you participate, there are no direct benefits to you. This research may increase the body of knowledge in the subject area of this research.
