Deer Management in Ireland - Survey

The Irish Deer Commission have received a request from Minister for Agriculture, Food, and the Marine, Charlie McConalogue TD, regarding proposed changes to deer management in Ireland, before we make a detailed submission we would like to hear your views, please take 5 minutes to complete our short survey before 5pm on Monday January 30th. 

The questions in this survey are not our stated or proposed position on deer management in Ireland, but merely a discussion document to allow members have an input into our deer management submission.

2.Should the current open Deer Hunting seasons change? Select one or more answers from the list below
3.Should the closed hunting season for native Irish Red Deer in County Kerry remain closed?
4.Should any of our three deer species (Red, Fallow, Sika) be classified as an invasive species?
5.Do you believe government and the relevant agencies should do more to promote the consumption of wild venison?
6.Do you believe government should offer contracted, licensed and controlled culling of wild deer in areas where populations are proven to be excessive and not controlled by traditional deer stalking methods?
7.Should government introduce legislation that allows its contractors to control wild deer where a landowner refuses to do so?
8.Do you believe local deer management iniatives such as local deer management groups inclusive of all stakeholders, all licensed hunters, and sporting rights owners is a good idea?
