MDOE 2016 Training Agenda

The Maine Department of Education will sponsor a mentoring workshop for new and experienced educators at the Augusta Armory on September 7th from 9:00-3:00.

The morning will consist of a workshop designed for teachers and administrators who are looking for information regarding this year’s renewal application process. The workshop will also provide a forum to discuss GT programming.  Teachers and administrators are encouraged to come with questions and to share resources.  The workshop topics include: reviewing this year’s renewal application process; exploring identification tools; discussing curriculum options aligned with regular education initiatives; organizing and managing GT programs; evaluating program effectiveness; and discussing budget concerns.

In the afternoon, we will break into two groups.  Patti Drapeau will continue to discuss the topics listed above and address questions with educators who are fairly new to the field.  Lee Worcester will meet with educators who have been in the GT field for a while and have far-reaching concerns and challenges.  Examples of these concerns and/or challenges may include such things as how to create changes in a long-established program or how to build K-2 programming into an existing program.  Lee asks that the advanced GT educators suggest a topic for this afternoon session and contact her by August 31st at lee.worcester@yahoo.com or by phone at 943-8804 with questions or topics.

If you have any questions regarding the workshop, feel free to contact Lee at the above address or Patti Drapeau at ptdrapeau@aol.com.

Due to the location we not be able to provide any refreshments or lunch at the workshop.
