Dear Parents and Guardians,

There is a growing need to provide teachers with more Professional Development opportunities given the rapidly changing mandates of the State Education Department and to enhance teaching and learning to all grades, K-12. Therefore, we are examining an expansion to all of the schools in the district of the opportunities that have already been in place at Manchester High School and in many of the surrounding towns for the last several years. Additionally, we would bring this approach to the district without any additional cost.

* 1. For half-day professional development, would you prefer that the professional development be held in the morning (resulting in school being in session in the afternoon), or that the professional development be held in the afternoon (resulting in school being in session in the morning)?

* 2. For the six half days of staff development, many people have requested afternoons for this training. Several of the suggested new training days either follow a weekend or holiday schedule for the convenience of your family. As a parent or guardian, please check scenario A or B that would best represent your preference. Note that the teacher half day trainings will be added to the full day trainings, which are before school starts and the two during the year. These dates have already been set as Aug.29th, 30th, Nov.8th and Jan.13th. We look forward to your feedback.
