Salem needs your help as we anticipate reopening for in-person services and events – by this summer, we hope!

WHEN AND HOW WILL WE REOPEN?
·      Salem will reopen when state and local COVID restrictions allow indoor gatherings of up to 100 persons.
·      All persons will be required to wear face masks and practice physical distancing.
·      Hand sanitizing will be encouraged; new hand sanitizing stations are in place.
·      In worship we will be seated at a distance. Certain aspects of worship will be modified to reduce health risks.
·      Initially after reopening, coffee and refreshments will not be served or will be limited.

* 2. I will serve on the Hospitality Team as a GREETER. This commitment is per Sunday: sign up for one Sunday at a time or commit to more. Arrive early to greet members and guests as they arrive at Salem on Sunday morning and for special services. Greeters are our first-impression goodwill ambassadors, providing amazing hospitality to all, and especially focused on orienting and assimilating new guests. During Fellowship Time, befriend guests and new members and make introductions to others. Training and support will be provided.

* 3. I will serve on the Hospitality Team as an USHER. This commitment is per month: sign up for one month at a time or commit to more. Ensure the worship space is prepared in advance, greet and provide amazing hospitality for members and guests in the worship space before and during Sunday and special services, and tidy up and close down the worship space following services. Training and support will be provided.

* 4. I will serve as a CHILDREN'S SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHER. This is NOT a year-round commitment, but per month: sign up for one month at a time or commit to more. Salem is initiating a fun and engaging new format for Children’s Sunday School using creative learning centers. We need every available member to help in this essential effort. Sunday School will be provided year-round, children will be placed in small age-appropriate groups, and our main-floor space for children’s learning will be doubled. Training, materials, and helpers on Sundays will be provided. Please note: Children’s Sunday School takes place during the 10 AM Worship Service.

* 5. I will serve on the OFFERING TEAM. This commitment is per month: sign up for one month at a time or commit to more. Immediately following every Sunday service and occasional special services, two volunteers collect donations made by cash and check, ensure contributions are accurately attributed to members, and then total, prepare, and secure the offering for deposit. The process typically takes 15-20 minutes. Training and support will be provided.

* 6. I will serve in the AUDIO/VIDEO CLUB. This commitment is per month: sign up for one month at a time or commit to more. The A/V Club ensures the audio system and lights – and occasionally cameras – are set up and tested in the worship space prior to that Sunday’s in-person service and special services, monitors and adjusts levels during the service, operates video cameras, and following the service assists in preparing our live stream service. Training and support will be provided.

* 7. I will serve on the BARISTA TEAM. This commitment is per month: sign up for one month at a time or commit to more. Arrive early to brew coffee into air-pod pump dispensers, set out air-pods, cups, lids, and coffee and tea condiments. Monitor and refill coffee prior to and during Fellowship Time. Clean up air-pods and store supplies following. Please note: this task may be restricted until after the initial weeks of reopening. Training and support will be provided.

* 8. I will serve on the FELLOWSHIP TIME TEAM. This commitment is per month: sign up for one month at a time or commit to more. Provide and recruit others to provide light refreshments for the Fellowship Time at 11 AM. Set out food, plates, napkins, and utensils. Clean up following. Please note: this task may be restricted until after the initial weeks of reopening. Training and support will be provided.

* 9. I will help with UPGRADES, REPAIRS, AND MAINTENANCE. This commitment is project-based and as-needed. Work with Salem’s Trustees (our property-care team). Maintaining, repairing, and updating our historic building and grounds is a constant work-in-progress. Provide basic painting, light carpentry, electric, plumbing, and gardening as your skills, time, and interest allow.
