Help Protect Colorado's Wild Horses
In 2025, Colorado Voters for Animals helped pass the Wild Horse Project Management & Immunocontraception Act, creating programs to both control wild horse herd size and provide financial and material support for wild horse adopters, sanctuaries, preserves, and refuges in Colorado.
Under our current state budget deficit, funding for these programs is limited and alternative methods of supporting the program are being considered. Among these is a wild horse license plate with a portion of sales going to help fund wild horse management programs, which could include population control, supporting sanctuaries, and providing emergency care.
In order for the state to consider a new specialty plate a provision requires at least 3,000 registered vehicle owners sign a petition stating they are willing to purchase the wild horse plate when released.
With this in mind we are reaching out to Coloradans who want to protect our wild horses. Although the details are still being discussed, we anticipate the initial cost of the plate would be no more than $50.
Help protect our wild horses. Add your name to the list of others who are willing to purchase the wild horse specialty plate by signing the petition here.
