Learning Objectives:

Define the various types of MCADs (IABP, ECMO, Impella and LVADs) and describe their mechanisms of action and indications for use.
Explain how MCADs affect hemodynamics, including changes in preload, afterload, and cardiac output and special considerations for monitoring.
Compare the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration with cardiologists, Cardiac surgeons, Intensivists and other healthcare providers when managing patients with MCADs.
