A Busing Survey for Grass Lake Community Schools Families

Due to a shortage of bus drivers to begin the 2021-2022 school year, our Grass Lake transportation department moved to a two-tier busing system. This two tier system reduced our bus driver requirements from 12 drivers  to 9. The two tier system resulted in an early run for our 6th through 12th graders, with school start times of 7:30 AM and 7:35 AM, followed by a subsequent run for our Kindergarten through 5th graders, with a school start time of 8:35 AM.

Our Grass Lake Community Schools Board of Education is now in the process of deciding what busing system we will experience for the start of the 2022-2023 school year. The Board has a choice of reverting to our original one tier system where all K-12 students rode the same bus, or to remain with our existing two tier system with our Middle School and High School students riding a separate route from our Elementary students. The Board is contracting with a company who assures us that they will provide adequate drivers to remain with our two-tier system, or to revert to our original one-tier system. The Board is interested in the opinions and viewpoints of our school families as they work toward a decision.
