Learning content delivery for the remote start to the school year

Per our recently posted Recovery Plan, all students will begin the school year on September 8, 2020 in a remote learning environment for at least the first four weeks.  In preparation for this, SCPS is seeking information that will help teachers and our transportation department plan for learning content delivery to your student. Please complete a separate survey for each student in your household, and respond to the best of your knowledge as it stands today. Your answers are not set in stone and you may change your preferences if your circumstances change at a later date.

Question Title

* 6. *Students in the remote learning environment will have access to live instruction events during the course of a normal school day. This requires an internet connection at home, AND a commitment from parents and guardians to see that their student attends live events at scheduled times.

If your household does not have an internet connection, or if you as a parent/guardian are unable to coordinate work or childcare schedules for your  student to attend live instruction events during school hours, recorded lessons will be made available for download. Teachers will need to know this information in order to determine how attendance will be taken for your student, and to determine when school work should be uploaded/downloaded.

Does your internet connectivity status AND your family schedule allow your student to attend live instruction events online during the hours of a normal school day?

Question Title

* 7. *Starting with the first week of school, families of students in grades 3-12 without an internet connection in the home will need to travel to a Wi-Fi access point (any place where you can connect to the internet) to download learning content to their student’s device, and upload completed work weekly. Learning materials for PreK-2nd grade students will need to be acquired from your student's school and submitted twice weekly, until their devices are ready in October.

With this in mind, will you need SCPS to provide transportation to Wi-Fi access points to download lessons, OR SCPS delivery and pick up of learning materials for your Prek-2nd grade student?
