SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES AND PSYCHOLOGY
PROJECT TITLE: ONLINE BEHAVIOURS
PRINCIPAL RESEARCHER: Dr Evita March, Lecturer of Psychology, Federation University
You are invited to participate in an anonymous questionnaire designed to examine personality and online behaviours. The purpose of this study is to explore how different people behave online. Participants are reminded they are not obliged to answer questions if they are uncomfortable. Participation is entirely voluntary, and you may withdraw your participation at any time without penalty.
Please take the time to complete the following questionnaire, which will take roughly 5 minutes of your time. Please note that you must be over 18 years of age to participate in the current research. The survey will contain questionnaires design to measure your personality and online behaviour, as well as demographic information.
Your participation in this project is voluntary and your answers are anonymous. Participants are free to refuse consent or may withdraw their participation at any time without explanation. Please note however each time you click the ‘next’ button throughout the questionnaire, your answers are immediately submitted and become amalgamated with the data. Therefore, should you decide to withdraw your participation throughout the questionnaire, there will be no way to retrieve your already submitted individual answers from the non-identifiable data at a later point.
Please note that students at Federation University may have the opportunity to attain course credit upon completion of this questionnaire. Please consult your Course Description to see if this is a possibility. If course credit is possible, please consult your Course Description for the process to attain this credit.
There are no expected physical risks when completing this questionnaire. However, participants are advised that some of the images may be confronting, and could possible cause some emotional discomfort. Should you experience any emotional discomfort when completing this questionnaire, you may discontinue your participation at any time. Additionally, if you do emotional discomfort during the questionnaire, you are encouraged to contact either Federation University Counselling Service (for students only) via online:
http://federation.edu.au/students/assistance-support-and-services/student-support-services/advice-and-counselling or PH: 5327 9470, or Lifeline on PH: 13 11 14.
All researchers in this project have experience studying psychology and conducting quantitative experiments. Data will be collected via online and will be stored on a password encrypted USB. Only project researchers will have access to data. Data will be stored on the encrypted USB for a minimum of 5 years, after which the USB will be wiped and reformatted.
