Family Planning Australia
is conducting a feasibility study on a project aimed at encouraging Men who have Sex with Men and Transgender people to frequently test for HIV and STIs in the Western Sydney region. This would be a peer-led clinic where clients have the option to consult with a peer staff member who shares similar lived experiences. Peer staff can come from a range of backgrounds and experiences, including—but not limited to—sexual orientation, gender identity, or community affiliation for example identifying with LGBTIQA+ communities. The clinic will emphasize respect, confidentiality, and cultural safety for all clients, regardless of how they identify or their cultural backgrounds.
