Organic Waste Survey for Businesses

California adopted Assembly Bill (AB) 1826, requiring all businesses to recycle their organic waste (food waste and green waste) beginning April 1, 2016 with a phased-in approach. Effective January 1, 2019, generators of 4 or more cubic yards of solid waste per week must start recycling organic waste.

We have identified your business as subject to the state law. EDCO can assist you with establishing a recycling program to divert organic material as required by AB 1826. For more information on diverting food waste, please visit

If you are currently diverting your organic waste in another way, you are likely in compliance with the state law. Please fill out the organic waste survey below so we can notate your account to indicate organic recycling compliance.

Please complete this organic waste survey and return it no later than December 31, 2018. The information you provide is crucial to verify your compliance with AB 1826 and is reported to CalRecycle on an annual basis. The phase-in of this mandate helps California to achieve its overall waste-diversion goal of 75% by 2020 and greenhouse gas emission reduction goals.
