Harvard Home for Family Medicine, HMS Center for Primary Care

Medical professionals are trained to ask patients many hard questions—about housing insecurity, immigration status, trauma history, etc.—but what action should you take when your patients screen positive? What resources are available? What are your responsibilities as a health professional? Join us for an interdisciplinary, interprofessional series around the approach to—and resources for—patients who screen positive.

Our April 27th session will feature Dr. Amy Smith, Khara Burns, and Sarah Cluggish from Project Bread who will discuss what to do when your patient screens positive for food insecurity. Join our discussion on What is food insecurity? How is it related to health? and What is being done about it?

Workshop Learning Objectives:

1. An understanding of food insecurity – how we measure it, what it looks like here in Massachusetts, and why it exists

2. Resources for families struggling with food insecurity – how that changed during the pandemic and ongoing barriers to food access

3. What you can do to help alleviate and prevent food insecurity

The event will take place on Thursday, April 27th from 6:00-7:30pm in TMEC Room 104, located at 260 Longwood Ave, Boston, MA 02115.

Dinner will be provided, RSVP below.
