Future of the Atlantic City Nursery

Seattle Parks and Recreation is gathering community input to determine the future use of the Atlantic City Nursery property. The 7-acre site is located at 5513 S Cloverdale Street between Pritchard Beach and Beer Sheva Park. There are several large greenhouse and shade house structures on the site, as well as acres of open space, some of which may be protected as wetlands.

Several neighbors are investigating the idea of using the Atlantic City Nursery to develop an urban agriculture center that could provide community members and organizations with opportunities for training, education and year-round gardening. Growing food on the site could benefit local food banks, add produce to local farmers markets, and increase access to fresh and healthy food. An urban agriculture center could also provide job training programs for youth.

This group of neighbors and community members would like your input on the best use of the Atlantic City Nursery. Responses received before December 31st will be included in our submission to Parks & Recreation.
