INTRODUCTION

The research study is titled “The Role of a Corporate Trainer:  A Qualitative Descriptive Study.”
 
M. Dave Salisbury is a doctoral student under the supervision of Dr. Susan Miedzianowski in the College of Doctoral Studies at Grand Canyon University and is conducting research for a dissertation.  The purpose of this study is to understand the role of the trainer and their influence on employee behavior and identity.
RESEARCH - KEY INFORMATION
 
This document defines the terms and conditions for consent to participate in this research study.
How do I know if I can participate in this study?
          You can participate if you can answer “Yes” to all of the following questions.
o   Speak English?
o   Live and work in the United States?
o   Employed in an English-speaking business?
o   Participated in live or synchronous online training
o   Over the age of 18?
o   Willing to answer demographic questions about your age, level of education, years of experience in your industry, years with your current employer, your current job title, and time since you last experienced live training?
o   Fit into ONE of the following groups –
      §  Employee – with at least six months of seniority
      §  Trainer and Front Line Supervisors – between two to five years’ experience in live training, coaching, or mentoring employees
      §  Senior trainer – a minimum of six years experience in live training
o   Willing to be recorded audibly and visually via Zoom (May opt out of visual recording if desired).
What am I being asked to do?
If you are an Employee or Trainer to be in this study, you will be asked to:
o   What:  If you agree to be in this study, you will be asked to do the following.
      §   Complete an online survey using paragraph style answers, AND
      §  If you desire, (optional) participate in a one-on-one interview lasting 45-60 minutes.
o   When: The researcher plans to conduct the study beginning on 1 July 2022, and the survey will be open for three weeks. If you elect to participate in the one-on-one interviews, they will be scheduled for a mutually agreed-upon date and time.
o   Where:  The survey will be conducted online thru SurveyMonkey. The one-on-one interviews will be conducted virtually using Zoom web-based conference platform.
o   How: If you agree to participate in this study, you will first complete the online survey. Note that the survey, which consists of eight questions, requires you to complete each question. If you are willing to participate in the one-on-one interview, you will provide your email address at the end of the survey where indicated. You will receive an email from the researcher asking for confirmation and available dates and times to schedule.
