2020 Gender Conference NYC Workshop Proposal

Welcome to Gender Conference NYC! We are a partnership of The Ackerman Institute's Gender & Family Project, and PFLAG NYC.  We are excited to be circulating this request for proposals (RFP), and look forward to hearing from you.

The Professional Symposium will take place on Friday, October 23rd, 2020

The Family and Youth Day will take place on Saturday, October 24th, 2020. 

Both will be held at the LaGuardia Plaza Hotel in Queens NYC.

The mission of Gender Conference NYC is to support transgender and gender-expansive youth, their families and the professionals in their lives.  Please be certain to let us know how the focus of your workshop is YOUTH, rather than adults.

For all workshops, we ask that you are mindful to try not to do too much in the intended time. Workshops should be designed to actively engage participants and provide opportunities for questions and discussion.

Please be aware that our attendees have a range of experience and understanding around gender identity.  Please be sure to let us know how you will address that range of knowledge.

We intentionally want all of the programming to have an intersectional focus being mindful of, not just gender related expertise, but also intersections with other identities (race, ethnicity, class, religion, sexual orientation, learning differences, abilities, immigration status etc.)  Please be sure to let us know how your proposal does this.

You are welcome to submit this workshop for more than one program.  You will be given an opportunity to clarify this in the survey.  If you do, please be sure to let us know how you will adjust your workshop for each of the programs you are submitting for.

Please review the next two pages of general information on each of our conference days.  Then the survey will begin.  Please know that if you don't complete the survey at this time, you will be able to access it later for completion.

Proposals must be submitted by 11:59 PM EST on Monday, March 2nd, 2020. We will contact you around mid May 2020 to let you know if your workshop proposal has been accepted or to update you on its status.
