Social Accountability Award Application |
This award recognizes students who have made contributions to the communities of Sint Maarten during their medical sciences education. Awardees have used leadership skills to increase student participation in community engagement initiatives. The awardee's leadership in developing community engagement initiatives has also fostered an asset-based approach to collaboration, with attention to diversity and inclusion among people living in Sint Maarten.
Award Amount: $5,000 one-time award towards tuition (applied the following semester)
Deadline: March 7, 2024 by 4:00 p.m. AST

- Must be a currently enrolled 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, or 5th semester student (UK Track students are not eligible)
- Complete the award application (see below)
- Personal essay (see below)
Essay
To apply for the Social Accountability Scholarship, submit an essay that describes the following:
1. Describe your contributions to the communities of St. Maarten and what you have learned about the community.
2. Describe the diversity among the communities you have collaborated with, highlighting the assets of those diverse communities.
3. Describe how these activities have contributed to your self-development and the development of your peers as future physicians.
4. Describe your plan for continued engagement from an asset-based perspective during your enrollment at AUC.
