Overview

The GHCA Healthcare Executive Georgia Leader Program is a part learning and part networking program designed to distinguish you as a leader among your colleagues and help you to continue to grow in leadership positions. The program kicks off with an informative and interactive leadership training. Georgia Leaders will be assigned reading materials to help instill leadership qualities. Throughout this leadership development program, participants will have the opportunity to network with the GHCA Board of Directors, staff and key stakeholders through a variety of activities, including conference calls, and present their capstone presentations at the Winter Convention.Selected Georgia Leaders are expected to read assignments, participate in all meetings/conference calls and submit reflections. You must be employed by an GHCA member in good standing and attend the initial Class Training to be considered part of this program. Employment must remain at an GHCA member center throughout the course of the program. If conference calls or meetings are missed without correspondence with the class liaison, participants will not be allowed to complete the program.

Please Note: The GHCA/GCAL Georgia Leader program is open to professionals, licensed nursing home administrators, executive directors, and managers that are active in administration, ownership or management of a GHCA/GCAL member skilled nursing facility, assisted living community, SOURCE and Associate Members. The GHCA/GCAL Leader Committee will review all applicants to determine if they are currently qualified. Please state your current job title/position and describe the position if the title does not clearly indicate that your position fulfills the requirements.

The GHCA/GCAL Georgia Leader requires that you attend the the following activities and investments:

Seven Steps

1. Submit an application and attend the Leading as a Preceptor training in Stockbridge or virtual September 2021. This program will include Georgia Leader Orientation during the lunch break. If approved for the Georgia Leader program, your attendance at this education session will be complimentary.

2. These five books are required and will be used for discussion: If Disney Ran Your Hospital by Fred Lee, Five Dysfunctions of a Team by Patrick Lencioni, 7 Habits by Stephen Covey, Good to Great by Jim Collins, and The Executive Guide to Understanding and Implementing Baldrige in Healthcare: Evidence-Based Excellence by Glenn Bodinson and Kay Kendall. If you have read one or more of these, you may substitute one additional book of your choosing. 

3. GHCA/GCAL Committee Participation

4.   Monthly meetings in person and/or via AnyMeeting conference virtual platform.

5. Submit six reflection writing assignments (about one page each).

6. Submit a minimum of two nominations for GHCA/GCAL awards. 

7. Capstone Project: The Leadership Presentation at the GHCA/GCAL Winter Convention

Investment: Purchase of required books, Winter Convention attendance (registrations and all expenses), travel and time for in-person meetings at GHCA/GCAL headquarters in Stockbridge, time to complete all required assignments.
