The San Mateo County Food System Alliance (Alliance), a collaborative of farmers, fishermen, farmers' market managers, public and environment professionals and residents, promotes a sustainable food system that is economically viable, environmentally sound, and socially just. One goal of the Alliance is a garden in every school. The Alliance developed the first ever San Mateo County School Garden Assessment and Recognition Program. Your school garden or afterschool program’s garden that is based at a school can be recognized for 3 categories of achievement based on the number of points you accumulate (see below): Bronze (65-74), Silver (75-84), or Gold (85-95).
