Elders Nominations 2021
Elders Nomination Form
This form provides you with the opportunity to nominate someone who you think would be suitable for the role of Elder at Terrigal Uniting Church.
An Elder is someone who is involved in the leadership and spiritual oversight of the church community. According to the National Assembly of the Uniting Church, “The ministry of Elder is one of spiritual oversight, and may also be exercised in pastoral visitation, teaching, encouraging members of the Congregation to share in mission, and assisting the Minister in leadership of worship and administration of the sacraments and other areas in the life of the congregation.”
A number of our current elders' terms of office come to an end this year. They are: Arthur Hand, Anne Hand, Carmen Daniels, Craig Hunter, Faye Crawley, Gerri Koelma, Karina Hollands, Kristin Gale, Lesley Hunter, Sacha Davison, Sandra Wingrave
These elders are eligible for re-election BUT must be nominated in the usual way via this form.
The following elders remain in office until 2023 and therefore do not need to be nominated for this election: Alisha Hawkins, Meryl Davison, Lesley Earp, Barry Earp, Emma Hunter, Kristy Tritton, Steve Earp, Sue Braund, Phil Rogers, Claire Earp, Leigh Van Aswegan, Marilyn Hales.
We are seeking elders for a 4 year term from any worshipping congregation. They can be any age but must be a confirmed / adult-baptised memberof this church.
Here’s what you must do to nominate someone for elder:
Only nominate after you have sought the Lord in prayer on this matter
Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you without letting others unduly influence you. Do not be pressured into nominating someone or improperly influence someone else.
Take your time to prayerfully consider this important matter
Do not assume that a suitable person will be nominated by someone else (if you do, it is possible that that person will not receive the required number of nominations).
Fill out this form including your details to indicate that you are a regular worshipper at Terrigal Uniting Church.
If you have any questions about this process, please speak to Richard Harris (Minister) or Phil Rogers (Elders Secretary)
