St. Xavier's Feasibility Study

Thank you for your participation.  Your honest feedback is appreciated as we work together to prepare for the future of your parish and its missions.  Below is the vision statement created by your leadership. Please answer the questions based on this statement.
St. Francis Xavier Church
And
St. Xavier Catholic School

Our Past …
St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church has a rich history not only in the Junction City area, but throughout the region and the state of Kansas as well. We are the oldest fully active parish to have been founded in what is now the Diocese of Salina.

In June 1861, six months after the state of Kansas was admitted to the union, Jesuit Father Louis Dumortier arrived in Junction City and celebrated Mass for its Catholic residents. Our parish was officially founded in 1876 and the first church was completed. Therefore, we are now approaching our 150th anniversary of bringing the catholic faith to the community.

Within four short years, the new pastor Father John Fogarty and the parish had the vision to start the first parochial school in the Diocese of Salina. As the parish and the school continued to grow, a high school was opened, school buildings were built and remodeled and eventually a rectory was added. These buildings represent the commitment and passion parishioners and clergy had for St. Xavier Church and School.

Our parish campus is vital as we grow and enhance our commitment to our faith and provides a place to learn and worship. It provides a place where we can pass on to future generations our beliefs, our values, and the teachings of our Catholic heritage. It provides a place for us to gather as a family to share our faith.

Our Vision …
By working to complete the following projects, we hope to be able to enhance and enrich our parish campus, which therefore will lead us to a deeper relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. These projects will provide facilities that all members of our parish can utilize, making our parish and school more welcoming and inviting, while also being more safe and efficient.

These projects, approximately costing $1.1 million, will allow us to prepare our parish campus for the future and provide for the many ministries of St. Xavier.

The Future …
As we look to the future of our parish and the education of our children, we need to continue to maintain and enhance our parish campus, recognizing its importance in our faith journey. Our forefathers had the passion, the vision, and the commitment to build our parish for us to have a place to worship and deepen our faith and grow our parish family. Like our forefathers, it is now our turn to give back to the church the many gifts God has given us.

Let us hope that the next 150 years at St. Francis Xavier will be as successful as the past.  The impact this vision statement will have on our St. Xavier families is limitless
