Have you ever wanted to edit Wikipedia pages but don't know how to get started? Is your organization engaged in the 2019 Commemoration or want to be? Join Virginia Association of Museums, 2019 Commemoration American Evolution, and Wikimedia DC on Friday, September 21, 2018 at Jamestown Settlement in Williamsburg, Virginia from 10:00am to 1:00pm for a special Wikipedia Editing Workshop!
Learn how to become a Wikipedia editor and spend time contributing to articles on the first representative legislative assembly in the New World, the arrival of the first recorded Africans to English North America, the recruitment of English women in significant numbers, the first official English Thanksgiving in North America, and the entrepreneurial and innovative spirit of the Virginia Colony. No experience necessary.
AMERICAN EVOLUTION™ commemorates the 400th anniversary of several key historical events that occurred in Virginia in 1619 that continue to influence America today. Featured events, programs, and legacy projects inspire local, national, and international engagement in the themes of democracy, diversity, and opportunity. Whether your organization is currently engaged with 2019 activities or not, we encourage you to get your online presence ready for this milestone anniversary.
