Access to Adventure: Trails at McFadden Nature Center

The McFadden Nature Center, in partnership with the Development Authority of Seminole County and the City of Donalsonville, is improving 10 miles of existing trails and building two new educational trails. This project will make trails safer, more accessible, and easier to navigate by widening paths, removing obstacles, and improving surfaces. An ADA-accessible restroom will also be installed to better support families, school groups, and visitors. In addition, two new trails will be created for younger audiences: a short, ADA-accessible trail designed for preschool and kindergarten students, and a longer trail for elementary-aged learners focused on hands-on environmental education. These improvements will expand outdoor learning opportunities, increase access for people of all ages and abilities, and strengthen the Nature Center as a hub for recreation and environmental education in the community We have received a grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to complete this project which is set begin in 2027 and finish in 2029.
