Torres Shire Council - Food Security Survey

Torres Shire Council is studying food security. This means we want to understand if people can always get enough good food. We also want to know if food is too expensive or hard to find. Your answers will help us to talk with Government and other stakeholders to make things better.

This survey is private. No one will know your answers.

What is Food Security?

Food security means having enough safe and healthy food to eat all the time. It means:

Food is available – There is enough food for everyone.
Food is affordable – People can buy it without struggling.
Food is accessible – It is easy to get, even in remote areas such as our Shire.
Food is nutritious – It is fresh and good for health.

When people don’t have food security, they may skip meals, eat less healthy food, or worry about running out of food. This is called food insecurity.

In Torres Shire, food security is a big issue because of high food prices, transport delays, and limited local food production. Understanding these challenges helps our community and leaders to find solutions.
