Survey of Firefighter Helmet Features, Use, and Care |
Background for Survey
This survey is intended to gather information from the fire service relative to what types of protective helmets it selects and how these helmets are used and cleaned. For this survey, the primary interest is in the various kinds of eye and face protection (e.g., faceshields, visors, and goggles) and ear covers that are currently required to be supplied with NFPA 1971-compliant helmets.
The purpose of this survey is gather information about firefighter preferences and expectations related to these parts of the helmet for determining if recommendations should be made to permit more options for how helmets can be configured to meet firefighter or department protection needs.
The survey is limited to 12 principal questions and one general question identifying general information for the respondent (department, state, current position, years of experience as a firefighter, and age). The survey should only take a couple of minutes to complete.
Thank you in advance for your responses.
