Job Analysis Questionnaire

IPMA-HR

OFFICE OF FIRE PREVENTION JOB ANALYSIS QUESTIONNAIRE (TO BE COMPLETED BY EMPLOYEES OF THE OFFICE OF FIRE PREVENTION ONLY)

2017

IPMA-HR is currently in the process of conducting a job analysis of several positions within the Office of Fire Prevention including the Fire Marshal, Deputy Fire Marshal, Premise Officer, Fire Inspector, Fire/Arson Investigator, and Code Enforcement Officer. The results of the job analysis will be used to create written, multiple-choice examinations for the above mentioned positions. As part of the job analysis process, we would like you to complete this Job Analysis Questionnaire (JAQ).

The purpose of this questionnaire is to learn more about the tasks performed by the Fire Marshal, Deputy Fire Marshal, Premise Officer, Fire Inspector, Code Enforcement Officer, and Fire/Arson Investigator, as well as the knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristics (KSAPs) they must have in order to be successful on the job. We would like your professional opinion, in the form of ratings, on different aspects of the above mentioned jobs. The people best able to accurately describe a job are those performing and overseeing the job and you have the expertise needed to give us a thorough description. Therefore, we would appreciate your careful attention while completing the JAQ.

The ratings you make will be combined with those of many other incumbents in your position to give us an overall picture of the requirements of the jobs within the Office of Fire Prevention. The results will help us develop an accurate profile detailing the important aspects of the above mentioned positions. Individual results will be kept strictly confidential. The results of the questionnaire will only be reported as group statistics.

The questionnaire contains several different sections and should take approximately 15 - 30 minutes to complete. The progress bar at the bottom of each page will show the percentage of the questionnaire you have already completed. Please note the rating scales for each section are different. Make sure you read the rating scales outlined at the beginning of each section carefully.
