What is FSS?
The Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) Program is a voluntary program that helps families receiving housing assistance work toward greater financial independence. Participants create personal goals related to education, job training, employment, credit improvement, homeownership, and other areas of self-sufficiency.
Each participant receives one-on-one support, life coaching, referrals to community resources, and help developing a step-by-step plan. As a participant’s earned income increases, they may also qualify to build money in an FSS escrow savings account. After successfully completing the program, eligible participants may receive those funds to help support their future goals.
The FSS Program is designed to encourage progress, build confidence, and help families create a more stable and successful future.
