Scholarly Practitioners in Action
Special Guest Presenter: Carl S. Moore, Ph.D.

Research is the cornerstone of our work as scholars, and it should also inform our efforts to improve outcomes for our students and our institution. Considering the connection between scholarship and teaching invites us all to continue refining our practices so we can create the most effective academic experience for all of our learners. Participants in the retreat will have the opportunity to consider, experience, and critique evidence-based strategies designed to ensure that we are “Teaching to Invite Student Learning” (morning session) and “Teaching to Capture Student Learning” (afternoon session).

Our special presenter, Dr. Carl S. Moore, brings a deep understanding of the current research on effective teaching practices to ensure student learning. He will present two highly interactive workshops designed to demonstrate these strategies and help participants build a set of tools to use right away in their own courses. We guarantee you’ll leave the Retreat energized for the semester and with a new set of ideas for engaging your students in meaningful ways.
