Public Input Survey for Downtown District Master Plan

* Introduction
For several years, enhancing downtown Fairview has been an important goal for both economic and aesthetic reasons.  To achieve this goal, Fairview Township is working with a consulting firm to create a plan for our downtown district that will foster economic development and quality of life.   The process will result in an updated zoning code for the planning area that incorporates the principles of a Traditional Neighborhood District (TND).  The zoning code for the TND will guide development within the planning area in order to help create a traditional downtown district.  A Master Plan will also be developed to address the infrastructure and physical conditions within the planning area that are currently a deterrent to creation of our envisioned downtown district. 

Planning Area
The downtown district for development of a Master Plan and creation of a TND is located along W. Ridge Rd. between Franklin Rd. and Old Ridge Rd., and Avonia Rd. between Water St. and Chestnut St.  Refer to attached map for Downtown District Planning Area.

Public Input
Creating a viable plan for downtown requires both the support of Township officials as well as residents and business owners.  At the start of the planning process, the Township conducted a public meeting on May 10, 2018 to gauge public support to engage in a planning process; the public expressed a desire and need for this planning effort.  Subsequently, on the evening of September 11, 2019, the Township held another public meeting to seek input on the public’s preferred direction for development of the Master Plan and desired elements of a Traditional Neighborhood District (TND).  The Township, through this survey, seeks further public comment and input in order to develop a plan that is responsive to the needs of the community.  Public input is also important to funding agencies when the project moves to implementation; it demonstrates a project that is worthwhile, due to public interest and support. Towards this goal, we ask that you share your thoughts by answering the following questions.
