JOMDC Faculty & Workstudy Dance Project, part of Joy of Motion Dance Center's annual choreography showcase series, introduces innovative works in all dance forms by our esteemed faculty and workstudy!

SPECIAL THEME FOR 2016: This year only, in honor of our 40th anniversary, we will be curating the Faculty and Workstudy Dance Project around the theme of "honoring one's teacher." We welcome pieces from by long-time JOMDC adult students that seek to honor the accomplishments, teachings, and spirit (and maybe a few signature moves!) of our veteran faculty members. Students who have taken classes with JOMDC for one year or more are encouraged to create work with fellow students to celebrate your favorite teacher. We are very excited to see what happens when this much talent is focused around the theme of giving homage to those who taught you what you know today.

Why is Dance Project so unique? The choreography series includes the Audience Favorite Award. The crowd votes for their favorite performance and JOMDC awards the winner 50% off a theater rental. Winners are also announced on social media.

PERFORMANCE: Saturday, February 20, 2016, 8:00 p.m. at The Jack Guidone Theater (5207 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20015).

ELIGIBILITY: All choreographers and performers must be 18 years or older. One work per choreographer. Any style of dance (except percussive), not exceeding 6 minutes. All performers and choreographers must be current workstudy or past/present faculty.
Please note, percussive choreographers should submit information for Percussive Dance Project (www.surveymonkey.com/s/PercussiveDP2016 ) and choreographers below the age of 18 should submit information for Youth Dance Project (www.surveymonkey.com/s/YDP2016).

PRIZE PACKAGE: Audience members will vote for their favorite performance at the end of the showcase. Performances will be judged based on choreographic intent, technique, music and costumes. The work with the most votes will be awarded 100 hours of free rehearsal time at Joy of Motion Dance Center or 50% off a weekend rental of The Jack Guidone Theater.
