The Professionalism Award was established by the Board of Trustees of the Akron Bar Association in 1996. The award was created to recognize attorneys with exceptional dedication to the standards of the profession and who have demonstrated integrity and humanitarian concern within the community.

In 2018, the name of the award was changed to the "Bradford M. (Buck) Gearinger Professionalism Award" in memory of Attorney Gearinger, Akron Bar past president and past award recipient.

Nominations are now being accepted for this year's award which will be presented this fall at a dinner to honor the recipient. The nominations will be reviewed by the Professionalism Committee of the Bar Association which will make its recommendation to the Board of Trustees. The Trustees have final approval of the award recipient. Nominees must be members of the Akron Bar Association.

Professionalism among members of the Bar has been of concern to us all. All lawyers should have the high standards of our profession reinforced to ensure that they are a regular part of our practice.
