4.QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify to serve on the Civil Grand Jury, you must meet the following requirements as outlined in California Penal Code Section 893:

*Be a citizen of the United States; 18 years of age or older
*Be a current resident of Sonoma County and for one year immediately before June 24, 2026
*Possess average intelligence, sound judgment and character
*Possess sufficient knowledge of the English language

5.DISQUALIFICATIONS

A person is not legally qualified to apply to serve on the Civil Grand Jury if any of the following apply:

*The person is serving as a trial juror in any California Court
*The person is serving as an elected public officer
*The person has been discharged as a civil grand juror in any California court within one year
*The person has been convicted of malfeasance in office or any felony or other high crime

21.Civil Grand Jury hours vary throughout the term (July to June). Most of these hours are during the workday, especially during investigations. Some work can be done at home. Depending on how many investigations you commit to, are you able to devote 10 to 25 hours per week (hours do fluctuate) over the one-year period?(Required.)
22.Individual commitment is key to the success of the entire Civil Grand Jury, thus limiting time away during the term is important. Do you have plans to be away for any extended period of time between June 24, 2026 and June 30, 2027?(Required.)

Applicant orientation at the Sonoma County Criminal Courthouse, 3:00 p.m., 625 Administration Drive, Santa Rosa, California

*Empanelment Ceremony June 24, 2026
The Empanelment Ceremony (selection of jurors and alternates for the 2026-2027 Civil Grand Jury term begins) - 3:00 p.m., 625 Administration Drive, Santa Rosa, California

*Computer Distribution (1 hour individual appointments) either July 9th or July 10th, 2026.
Assignment of computers to new jurors

*Civil Grand Jury Training July 13-14, 2026
New jurors and alternate Civil Grand Jury training: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day (location to be determined)

*July 16, 2026
Local orientation/computer training: 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (Los Guilicos)
