Competition Entry Form
The International Parking Institute (IPI) Parking Solutions Competition is a design and development challenge for college students. This inaugural competition offers university students the opportunity to submit independently or form their own multidisciplinary teams and engage in a challenging parking solutions exercise based on real-world scenarios.
The competition is part of IPI’s ongoing effort to raise interest and awareness among college students about the parking and transportation industries. The competition will address parking development patterns and the need for multidisciplinary solutions to development and design challenges for urban spaces, campuses, and parking and transportation challenges.
The Parking Solutions Competition will invite four finalists to the 2017 IPI Conference and Expo in New Orleans, La., to be held May 21 to 24, 2017 to present their big ideas at a General Session.
YOUR BIG IDEA
Your challenge is as follows:
Find an innovative new way to reduce single occupant vehicles to
- maximize land use,
- increase mobility options, and
- decrease congestion, emissions, and pollution through parking solutions.
SELECTING FINALISTS
1. Creativity/Innovation
2. Realism/Applicability/Scalability
3. Ability to Benchmark Success and ROI
4. Presentation
HOW TO APPLY
1. Complete this entry form to enter the competition.
2. Stand by for a Welcome Letter and further details. But don't wait to begin developing your idea!
3. Develop and express your solution in a format to best display and present it.
4. Send it to IPI to for consideration by our panel of experts using submission instructions that will be emailed upon receipt of your entry form.
ELIGIBILITY
1. Participants must be 18 or older as of May 18, 2017.
2. Participants must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate institution or actively pursuing a graduate degree.
WHAT TO SUBMIT
1. REQUIRED: Brief narrative of your big idea – a short description of 1,000 to 1,500 words, submitted in PDF or Word format.
2. ONE OF THE FOLLOWING IS REQUIRED:
o Mobile application
o Website or online service
o Plans/drawings/graphics
o 3/D Models/Animation
o Video
Formats include, but are not limited to list above, and multiple formats may also be combined to illustrate the proposed parking solution. Additional formats may be proposed, please contact Stephanie Santoro at santoro@parking.org.
THE PRIZES(S)
In May 2017, the competition will sponsor one member of each finalist team to travel to the IPI Annual Conference and EXPO in New Orleans, La. to meet international experts and present their innovative idea at the Parking Solutions Competition ceremony.
SELECTED FINALISTS WILL RECEIVE:
- Round-trip airfare and a two night hotel stay in New Orleans for one person/team member (arrangements to be made by IPI). Additional participants may attend at their own expense.
- Free conference registration
- Free one year IPI Student Membership
GRAND PRIZE WINNER
- $500 prize
- Feature in The Parking Professional, IPI's award-winning monthly magazine and all online and printed media such as blog, press releases, social media, etc.
