Growing Spaces: Barra & Vatersay

The Barra and Vatersay Community Climate Action Plan highlights the growing more local food and the promotion of local food as a high priority.  This Action Plan was produced with community consultation in 2023.

Growing Spaces: Barra and Vatersay study will look at these aspects closer and how we can take these actions forward together.

Producing more food on the island will increase our food security, quite topical now with the storms and ferries being cancelled therefore resulting in no fresh food arriving on the island from the mainland.  There are so many advantages to producing more of our own food including freshness, taste, health and wellbeing and mental health.
