Special Recognition Awards – call for nominations
Introduction
YWCA Canada would like to encourage and reward the accomplishments and contributions of individuals, volunteers and staff who give above their time, talents and energy for the advancement of the YWCA movement and the betterment of women’s lives.
The Special Recognition Awards are a unique representation of the essence of the person for whom they were named. YWCA Canada is proud to publicly acknowledge these valuable contributions by formally honouring the award winners at the Annual Membership Meeting.
The 11 Special Recognition Awards are articulated around 3 major axis:
Individuals: Staff or volunteers
● The Ann Northcote Award
● The Estelle Amaron Award
● The Cleta Herman Award
● The Agnes Amelia Blizzard Award
● The Carolyn B. Bray Award
● The Ann Mowatt Outstanding Young Woman Award
● The Mentorship Award
● The Raine Liliefeldt Anti-Racism Leadership Award
Member Associations
● The “Strong Voice for Women” Special Advocacy Recognition Award
● The Innovative Program Special Recognition Award
External Organizations
● The Annie Gray Keith Award
General Guidelines
1. The candidate must have demonstrated outstanding leadership or made a significant contribution over a number of years in keeping with the qualities and achievements of the person for whom the award is named;
2. Each award is given to only one individual, except in exceptional circumstances. In the case of the program recognition or the advocacy recognition award, more than one Association may be recognized;
3. The candidate or Associations must be nominated by a Member Association, a volunteer and/or staff, or National Board member; A Member Association may self-nominate for an Association Award.
3. Awards may be given posthumously;
4. YWCA Canada has the option not to present any award in a given year;
5. Recipients will be publicly acknowledged at the YWCA Canada Annual Members Meeting.
