Fellows of the Academy of Urologic Nurses and Associates Application

Fellows of the Academy of Urologic Nurses and Associates are SUNA members who have made outstanding, sustained contribution to SUNA and to urology education, policy, management, clinical practice and research. Each Fellow supports the mission of SUNA and becomes a member of a pool from which the SUNA Board and conference committees can seek advice regarding local speaker recommendations, research proposals, and education offerings.

Fellows have made enduring and substantial contributions to the field of urology nursing as teachers, mentors, scholars, clinicians, public policy advocates, and administrators. They provide leadership and are recognized for their expertise in the care of urology patients, practicing to the fullest extent of their education and licensure.

Choose a sponsor who knows you and is willing to promote you, your work, and your contributions to SUNA and/or urology patient care. This person must be willing to mentor you in the application process and be able to confirm your enduring and substantial contributions to SUNA, urology, and/or to the care of urology patients. Plan to communicate with your sponsor 2-3 months prior to the application deadline to discuss your readiness for FAUNA membership.

The person you choose to write your letter of support can be a co-worker, administrator, or employer. This person should be able to describe the contributions you have made to urology and/or patient care. Examples of this could be developing patient education materials, organizing and leading a prostate cancer or bladder cancer support group, developing individualized care plans, developing infection control protocols, and participating in research projects such as data collection.
