Nodding off, can't wake up, blue lips, clammy skin, gurgling sounds or difficulty breathing
Racing pulse, sweating, can't sit still, fidgeting, hyper, extremely talkative
2.
In what order should you respond to an overdose?
Try to wake them, check for breathing. If no breath, give two rescue breaths. Call 911-put on speaker phone, tell them where you are and what you are about to do. Administer 1 dose in one nostril, put them on their side, wait three minutes. if no response, administer the second dose in the other nostril. if they do not wake up or start breathing on their own, continue rescue breathing until EMT arrives.
Give two doses of Narcan in one nostril. Start doing CPR, even if they are already breathing. Now call 911, yell for help to the neighbors, give them a cup of coffee, drink one yourself.
Call the police and report suspected drug use, call 911, pour water on them, if they wake up, ask them why they tried to kill themselves and tell them suicide is a selfish act.
3.
Why should someone who wakes up after you give Naloxone, still go to the hospital (Choose the Best Answer Only)
If the opioid dose was too strong, the Naloxone you gave them may wear off and they may slip back into an overdose and stop breathing again.
Narcan has put them into opioid withdrawal. The local hospital may be able to prescribe Suboxone in the ER, a pill that will relieve their withdrawal symptoms while they offer referrals to a free medication assisted treatment (MAT) program for opioid addiction.
The hospital can assess if they have any other injuries and medical problems, anxiety, depression, and or other mental health counseling needs and refer important support.
All of the above
