The Critical Assessment for Genetically Engineered Networks (CAGEN) is a new competition designed to improve the robustness and performance of human-designed biological circuits and devices operating in cells. The purpose of this survey is to gauge interest in the 2011-12 challenge proposals. The results of this survey will be reviewed by the CAGEN steering committee before making a final determination of which competition(s) to run. More information on the CAGEN competition and a list of the proposed challenges can be found at http://www.openwetware.org/CAGEN.
