The Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence (AZCASE) is developing a credential for Arizona Out-of-School Time educators who work with school-aged youth.

Out-of-School Time (OST) programming is supervised programming that school-aged youth regularly attend when school is not in session.

A Credentialing Program supports OST staff in demonstrating the specific knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to provide high-quality OST programming, support the learning and development of children and youth, and advance equity, particularly for those who have been historically excluded.

AZCASE is currently designing the components of the AZ OST School-Aged Credential Program. Potential approaches to demonstrating competencies and achieving a credential may include:
  • the development of a professional digital portfolio,
  • the completion of online or in person professional development,
  • an observation of participant with children,
  • an online interview
  • a proficiency test

The following survey will guide AZCASE in the development of a credentialing program that best meets the needs of the OST field in Arizona.

Instructions: Please answer the following questions for yourself. If you are a leader of a site or program, you will be asked to answer additional questions at the end.
