FSC NGO Stakeholders - Survey of mapping systems, mobile technologies and GIS platforms
FSC NGO Stakeholders: Survey of GIS, GPS and Mapping technologies
FSC is continually looking at ways in which it can strengthen the brand and improve the value of certification. With the support of the European Space Agency (ESA), FSC has initiated TransparentForests, a feasibility study to design and evaluate a web based Forest Certification Information System, which would have the capability to generate and store EO maps, GPS derived data, and other spatial information that will be useful within certification. TransparentForests outputs will also be exportable to support audit reports.
For background information on the project, please see:
https://ic.fsc.org/transparent-forests.552.htm (Project results and reports are being posted on this website, as soon as they are ready).
We are undertaking a baseline survey of what GIS, GPS and mapping technologies and systems are currently used by the FSC NGO stakeholder community who support certification activities of communities and other Forestry Organisations, along with their related technical skills. Parallel surveys are being undertaken of FM Certificate Holders and Certification Bodies.
Any information you provide will used in an aggregated and unattributed form. Reports of all surveys will be available to all participants.
This survey should not take more than 15-20 minutes to complete.
