Spouse Employment Summit Registration

This three-day event offers attendees a chance to explore career opportunities, better understand networking and the role of social media in today's job search, practice interview skills, and upgrade their resumes for today's job market. Take advantage of these workshops to help prepare you for the VSFB Fall Job Fair on 22 October 2025. Choose specific workshops to attend or sign up to attend the entire series!

Oct 08, 0815-1015: Your Next Move - This workshop provides the opportunity to use Dept of Labor resources to define and explore career opportunities. Labor market information research will be used to select a career path or develop a job search plan.

Oct 08, 1030-1230: Marketing Me - This workshop is focused on using marketing techniques for your job search. We'll explore networking opportunities and use multiple resources to develop an action plan for your job hunt.

Oct 08, 1330-1530: LinkedIn Profiles - This workshop walks participants through building their LinkedIn profiles. Participants learn how to create a profile that markets their professional brand, uses keywords to attract recruiters, and utilizes LinkedIn for skill endorsements and recommendations from their networks.

Oct 08, 1545-1745: Career Credentials - This workshop defines professional credentials and their importance, illustrates pathways for credentialing, and identifies license and credential portability resources.

Oct 09, 0815-1245: Mastering Resume Essentials - This workshop is designed to help you create your most effective resume for the career you want. Trained facilitators will provide guidance and teach you to evaluate your resume and understand job application techniques.

Oct 09, 1400-1600: Interview Skills - Preparation is key for a great job interview. This workshop provides tips and coaching for job interviews and handling those hard-to-answer questions.

Oct 10, 0815-1015: Federal Hiring- This workshop provides an introduction to the federal hiring process. Participants review federal employment, special hiring authorities for military spouse and differences between federal and private sector resumes. Participants will also set up accounts on USAJOBS and review features to assist in their job search.

Oct 10, 1030-1230: Flexible Job Options - This workshop shows participants how to explore, research, and secure legitimate, career-building flexible job options. It also breaks down hot topics such as gig economy jobs, temp and contract work, home-based businesses, and how to shift from an office to remote work location.

Oct 10, 1330-1530: Salary Negotiations - This workshop explains basic knowledge for salary, compensation, job offers and negotiations skills. Included exercises and resources will help you understand your worth to your next employer.
